Youth Ministry

HGA offers Senior High, Junior High, 3rd to 5th Grade, and Kindergarten to 2nd Grade Youth

Ministries. If you are interested in being a part of youth ministry at Holy Guardian Angels,

please contact Father Hoffa to talk about what you would like to take part in to help

build a vibrant youth ministry program for kids from Kindergarten through high school.

Boy Scout Troop 161

Boy Scouting is a program for boys ages 11-17, designed to achieve the aims of scouting

through a vigorous outdoor program, advancement and peer-group leadership, building

character, independence and values in young people. Troop 161 has a long and

distinguished history at HGA, dating back continuously to 1936. The troop meets Thursday evenings from 7-8:30pm throughout the year. We offer numerous weekend activities –

overnight campouts as well as one-day events – and participate in a week-long

Cub Scout Pack 161

HGA Cub Scout Pack 161 serves the Hyde Park area of Reading/Muhlenberg. 

Boys from Kindergarten through 5th Grades (ages 5-11) are eligible to join the pack. 

Pack 161 meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month of the school year at

HGA Social Hall from 6-7pm, and the third Wednesday of each month beginning

at 3pm or 6pm depending on the activity. This whole family (sister and sibling-friendly)

character and adventure-based program prepares boys to become young men

of substance with a focus on a love of nature, S.T.E.M. awareness,Catholic faith, and 

service to God and country. Cub Scouts from Pack 161 cross over at the end of 5th grade

into Boy Scout Troop 161 where boys continue lifelong learning, adventure, and friendships.

Girl Scouts (Heart of Berks Service Unit)

Heart of Berks Service Unit serves girls, K-12, in the Muhlenberg and Oley School

Districts as well as Holy Guardian Angels. Our mission is to build girls of courage,

confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Through service, learning

by doing, and havingfun in a safe environment, we help build the leaders of

tomorrow. The Girl Scouts meet every Monday from 6:30-8:00 pm in the School Social Hall.
