Day 1
Departure from USA
Day 2Arrive in Thessaloniki: You will be met and transferred to your hotel for time to relax and meet your fellow pilgrims. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.
Day 3 Philippi, Kavala, Thessaloniki: Visit, Philippi, where Paul delivered his first European sermon (Acts 16:12–18); baptized Lydia, Europe’s first Christian convert and see the ruins and prison of Paul and Silas. Continue into Kavala (ancient Neapolis), Paul, Silas, Luke, and Timothy’s first European landing. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.
Day 4Thessaloniki, Meteora: Thessaloniki city tour: Paul preached here (49–50 AD) and wrote two epistles. See city ramparts, Arch of Galerius and Via Egnatia, once a vital Roman artery. Continue to Kalambaka to visit the Meteora Monasteries, perched on towering rock formations and housing ageless monasteries featuring Byzantine art. Dress code: women—skirt or wrap; men—long pants, covered shoulders. Dinner & overnight in Kalambaka.
Day 5
Delphi – Athens: Visit Delphi, the center of the ancient world (navel) of the earth, whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic world. On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, lie the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios. Continue to Athens, one of the most glorious cities in the world and the cradle of western civilization as we know it today. Dinner and overnight in Athens.
Day 6
Athens: Visit the Acropolis: Parthenon, Erechtheum, Propylaea. Ascend Mars Hill, where Paul preached to the Athenians, overlooking the ancient Agora. City tour includes: Parliament on Syntagma Square, Presidential Palace with Evzones, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, National Library, University, Panathenaic Stadium (first modern Olympics), Temple of Olympian Zeus, and Hadrian’s Arch. Continue to Ancient Corinth, where Paul lived and preached for two years (50 AD) and founded a Gentile Church. Explore the ruins of Fountain of Peirene, Temple of Apollo, Bema, and Agora (Paul’s trial site) with time to also visit the marketplace and shops. Dinner & overnight in Athens.
Day 7 Athens: Begin 3-day cruise with first port-of-call Mykonos, the most cosmopolitan Greek island. Travel to Hora, the island’s capital, for a walking tour through narrow cobblestone streets, boutiques, nightclubs, and whitewashed houses, ending at Alefkandra (“Little Venice”). Return to Mykonos Town and shuttle back to port. Overnight on ship.
Day 8
Kusadasi and Ephesus (Turkey) and Patmos (Included Shore Excursions): Arrive at Kusadasi, a lively Turkish port, and drive to Mt. Koressos to visit the chapel marking the house where the Virgin Mary is believed to have spent her last days (Vatican pilgrimage site). Continue to Ancient Ephesus. Enter through the Magnesian Gate and see the Odeon, Fountain of Trajan, Baths of Scolastika, Temple of Hadrian, Library of Celsus, and the Great Theatre (24,000 seats) where Paul preached. Walk along the Arcadian Way, once traversed by Mark Antony and Cleopatra. View the Basilica of St.
John before free time in Kusadasi. Sail to Patmos. Visit Chora to tour the Monastery of St. John (11th century), its courtyard, refectory, and treasury of manuscripts, mosaics, icons, textiles, and jewelry. Continue to the Grotto of the Apocalypse, where traditions say John wrote the book of Revelation, marked by silver niches and the symbolic three-fold crack symbolizing the Trinity. End with free time in the harbor of Scala before returning to the ship. Overnight on ship.
Day 9
Heraklion and Santorini (Optional Shore Excursions): In the morning visit Heraklion, just three miles away from the ruins of the Palace of Knossos, discovered in 1899 and believed to be the mythical Labyrinth of King Minos and the heart of ancient Minoan culture. It is in Heraklion where Paul met the owner and captain of the ship who warned him of continuing his journey to Rome. In the afternoon, cruise to Santorini, one of the most breathtaking of all the Greek Islands. In the town of Thira, see white-washed houses, open-air cafes and glittering boutiques clinging to steep cliffs, accessible by cable car or mule. Return to the ship.
