What is the OCIA?
The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults ("OCIA") formerly, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, ("RCIA"), is a series of liturgical rites and instructions designed
to prepare adults gradually for full incorporation into the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Initiation. The process involves fellowship, prayerful deliberation, and a period of formal education in the teachings, practices, and traditions of the Church.
HGA is hosting an Information Night on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 6:30 pm in the Rectory Basement Meeting Room.
Who is welcome to enter OCIA?
Persons who have not received any or all of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist).
Members of Christian communions who desire to know more about Jesus Christ as He is pro-claimed, celebrated, and lived in the Catholic Church.
Fully initiated Catholics who want to refresh their understanding and commitment to the Catholic faith. Many “Cradle Catholics” and seasoned “converts” have found the OCIA to be very helpful in their own formation; some of these avail themselves as “sponsors” who accompany people on their journey to full sacramental initiation. By their participation, parishioners show that OCIA is a parish–wide celebration.
Anyone eager to continue the journey of faith.
