RCIA
What is the RCIA? • The RCIA is a series of liturgical rites and instructions designed to prepare adults gradually for full incorporation into the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Initiation. • The process involves fellowship, prayerful deliberation, and a period of formal education in the teachings, practices, and traditions of the Church.
Who is welcome to enter the RCIA? • Persons who have not received any or all of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist) • Members of Christian communions who desire to know more about Jesus Christ as He is proclaimed, celebrated, and lived in the Catholic Church. • Fully initiated Catholics who want to refresh theirunderstanding and commitment to the Catholic faith. Many “Cradle Catholics” and seasoned “converts” havefound the RCIA to be very helpful in their own formation; some of these avail themselves as “sponsors” who accompany people on their journey to full sacramental initiation. By their participation, parishioners show that RCIA is a parish–wide celebration.• Anyone eager to continue the journey of faith.
